Game Console news roundup at final edition
Game Console News

Last week was sadly my last week writing the daily gaming news for the Game Console section of

Whilst I’ve had a blast reporting on the gaming scene for New Zealand gamers, it was time to move on a try something new. Hopefully I’ll have the odd item on the site again in the future.

Whilst changes have been afoot (more on that soon), I’ve not had the time to do my usual Game Console news roundup. So, for the second time in four weeks, I present two weeks worth of my gaming news snippets. Continue reading Game Console news roundup at final edition

Retrospective: Assassin’s Creed 2 Review Xbox 360

Assassin's Creed
Renaissance man

After my  Assassin’s Creed 2 hands-on with Patrice Désilets over at Ubisoft’s Sydney headquarters, I later had the opportunity to review the game for NetGuide magazine.

Playing the game in the comfort of my own home, and not (badly) in front of the game’s creative director was a lot less nerve-racking. What’s amazing about the Assassin’s Creed series is just how much each game improves over the last. Whilst Assassin’s Creed was a very intelligetnly written game, it only really served as a prelude to the incredible gaming experiences that were to come.

Check out my review from the pages of Game Console, below. Continue reading Retrospective: Assassin’s Creed 2 Review Xbox 360

Xtreme Kinect

Motion Sports Adrenaline

All around the world Kinect units sit alone atop TV screens collecting dust.

We all want to love Microsoft’s motion controller, but we know that it is really just a piece of shite that we’ll never really need. Leaping about like a fairy is all well and good if you are a thirteen year old girl but not OK for a 40-year-old gamer.

First Impressions: Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Deus Ex Human Revolution
I like it!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been a long time coming. For a sequel to what was considered to be such a seminal game back in 2000, an eleven year wait is a bit too long.

I’ll be honest and say that Deus Ex wasn’t on my games radar. I played a bit of the last one back in the day, but it didn’t do a lot for me, which is weird ‘cos I was right into the whole conspiracy thing back then.

Portal short film

I'm making a note here, huge success!

I love seeing what folks can do with gaming franchises. Nine times out of ten a fan made film will beat anything that Hollywierd will come up with.
