A review copy of Konami’s Zone of the Enders: HD Collection just arrived at Vic B’Stard Towers with a disappointing explanatory note.
The European version of the Zone of the Enders: HD Collection includes a demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. But it seems that, due to Australian classification restrictions, Aussie gamers will be missing out on a copy of the demo in their versions.
Zone of the Enders: HD Collection has been rated M, but it is anticipated that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will have a higher rating. Under Australian classification law only video games with the same or lower classification can be promoted in-game.
The review copy of the Zone of the Enders: HD Collection came with the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo, echoing the original PS2 release of Zone of the Enders. Back in 2001 Zone of the Enders came packaged with a demo of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
Whilst many people (me included) purchased Z.O.E. back in the day just for the Metal Gear demo, the fast-paced mech combat game garnered success in its own right. The game spawned a PS2 sequel, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner (also include in the HD collection), a Gameboy game in Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars, an anime TV show and a movie.
Metal Gear Solid legend and series producer, Hideo Kojima, has announced that he has started work on another installment of the franchise, this time using his next-gen FOX Engine.
The Zone of the Enders: HD Collection, featuring a remastered version of the original Zone of the Enders and the sequel Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner will be available in Australia on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 from 29th November.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be available on 21st February for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
