Batman PC patch adds effects but further reduces performance

The Batman Arkham Knight PC drama continues today with the release of a patch that adds the missing ambient occlusion and dynamic rain at the cost of a further ten frames per second.

Whilst the Vic B’Stard test rig, with its 3.8Ghz i7 CPU, 32 Gigs of RAM and a GTX980, has been getting around 60fps not everyone has been so fortunate. Continue reading Batman PC patch adds effects but further reduces performance

Vic B’Stard’s top tips for getting games like The Witcher 3 and Batman Arkham Knight running well on your PC

I’ll be the first to admit that nothing pisses me off more, when I can’t get a game to work on my PC, than reading someone’s self-righteous post on how the game runs fine on their machine. Especially if their PC spec is half that of my own.

As much as it irks me, as a seasoned PC gamer, I appreciate that my problems with a game are more likely to be down to my choice of components, or how I chose to configure them, than the game’s programmers.

So, at the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, please breathe deeply and stay calm as I offer you advice, if you are having trouble running Arkham Knight, that you probably don’t want to hear. The world’s greatest entertainment expo, E3, started with an explosion of blood and gibs courtesy of publishing powerhouse Bethesda, who held their first ever E3 press conference on Sunday night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

DiRT Rally early access preview

Codemasters have taken their rally franchise, DiRT, back to its roots with DiRT Rally, now available on PC as part of the Steam Early Access programme. Early Access gives players the opportunity to sample a game during the development cycle, for a reduced fee, months before release of the full game.

Codemasters have previously confessed that last year’s GRID Autosport, was created to appease fans that were disappointed with their GRID 2 racing game. Having tested out DiRT Rally, I’m wondering if they are trying to do the same for DiRT. Continue reading DiRT Rally early access preview
