ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-PRO WIFI motherboard review

For the launch of Intel’s 14th Generation CPUs, ASUS has revisited its ATX DDR5 TUF Gaming Z790 motherboard to bring us the ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-PRO WIFI.

Sitting between Asus’s more budget-conscious Prime and enthusiast-level Republic of Gamers brands, the TUF Gaming brand styles itself on producing durable, military-grade components. Whilst they certainly look the part with a more industrial design, in my experience, TUF Gaming Z-series motherboards are dependable in that they offer reasonable performance tweaking without the instability that usually comes with overclocking. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Xbox Series X|S/PC single-player campaign review

Breaking tradition, Activision has released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III the next instalment of the rebooted Modern Warfare series.  For years, Call of Duty games have alternated between development studios and their relative narratives. After Infinity Ward’s 2019 Modern Warfare, we had to wait two years with the excellent Black Ops Cold War from Treyarch and the not-so-excellent Vanguard from Sledgehammer holding the torch until Infinity Ward returned with Modern Warfare II. Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus WIFI motherboard review

The TUF Gaming B650-Plus WIFI is an AMD Socket AM5 ATX motherboard designed for AMD Ryzen 7000-series CPUs. I take it for a test.

Looking at the box, the TUF Gaming B650-Plus WIFI motherboard gave me quite the feeling of deja vu. I’ve reviewed a few similar Intel-based TUF Gaming XXX-Plus WIFI D4 motherboards, and this board looks virtually identical. The big difference is that this board supports DDR5 memory, as AMD’s Ryzen 7000-series chips don’t have an option for DDR4. Continue reading Asus TUF Gaming B650-Plus WIFI motherboard review

HTC Vive XR Elite review

As the moving feast that is virtual reality shifts once again, I take a look at HTC’s Vive XR Elite, a headset that heralds the arrival of the next generation of VR devices.

I first checked out the Vive XR Elite at a Sydney preview event, finding both the device’s wireless standalone VR and wireless PC VR experiences were very impressive. Since then, Sony has released its PlayStation VR2 headset, a device that has been lauded by console gamers, but left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed. Continue reading HTC Vive XR Elite review

Assassin’s Creed Mirage PC review

Ubisoft Bordeaux invites players to 9th Century Baghdad, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, following the early life of Basim Ibn Ishaq, the Master Assassin from 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

For over fifteen years Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed games, a mix of historical events and modern-day sci-fi, have taken players on a journey from Ancient Egypt to Victorian England. On the way we engaged in Athenian naval battles, met Leonardo de Vinci, and played a part in the French Revolution. Continue reading Assassin’s Creed Mirage PC review
