FIFA 19 Xbox One/Switch/PC review

Football, the beautiful game. This year there’s no football game more beautiful than EA Sports’ FIFA 19.

Up until recently, FIFA fans were treated only to the usual, annual, rooster updates and gameplay tweaks that, for a reviewer, sounded a more like marketing hyperbole than genuine reasons to buy the latest iteration. Over the years, though, EA Sports have been refining ball control, player emotion and supporter interaction. The franchise has got to the point that the game is pretty damn close to watching football on live on TV. Continue reading FIFA 19 Xbox One/Switch/PC review

Warhammer Vermintide 2: Shadows Over Bögenhafen DLC review

Fatshark’s excellent Warhammer Vermintide 2 gets it first DLC, Shadows Over Bögenhafen.

Taking more than just a leaf out of zombie slashers Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, Vermintide 2 is a third-person melee combat game whereby player take a role in a party of four. Forza Horizon 4 Xbox One review

Who would have thought that Forza Motorsport’s “missing” campaign spin-off, Forza Horizon would ellipse it’s pure racing brethren and become THE racing game on the Xbox One.

Whilst Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport games may give us the physics and the cars, they can be a rather dour affair. Still one of the best racing franchises out there, but a little on the serious side. It’s younger sibling, Forza Horizon is a relative hooligan in comparison, and I believe that is exactly what Playground Games are aiming for. Continue reading Forza Horizon 4 Xbox One review

Asus Republic of Gamers STRIX Z370F Gaming and Intel Core i7 8700K review

Another year and another generation of Intel CPUs. For this 8th generation, codenamed Coffee Lake, Intel have opted to keep the LGA1151 socket of its predecessors. But unlike the 7th gen Kaby Lake you’ll not going to be able to slot it straight into your old Z270 motherboard.

I’m going to be looking at an Intel Core i7 8700K and an ASUS Republic of Gamers STRIX Z370F Gaming motherboard. Continue reading Asus Republic of Gamers STRIX Z370F Gaming and Intel Core i7 8700K review
