Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts PC review

With Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts CI Games have  taken a leaf out of Hitman’s playbook abandoning the open-world of the last game in favour of a series of well-realised environments.

As fun as past Sniper: Ghost Warrior games are, finely polished works, they are not. Fortunately, CI have pulled out the stops with Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts to give us a game that can stand head-and-shoulders with similar contemporary first-person-shooters. Planet Zoo PC review

Frontier Developments continue to prove themselves to be the masters of the real-time park management genre with Planet Zoo.

Having cut their park management teeth reinvigorating the Rollercoaster Tycoon series for Atari, back in the day, the Cambridge-based outfit, probably best known for the revered Elite series of space-trading games, have gone from strength to strength. Continue reading Planet Zoo PC review

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order PC/Xbox One review

EA Games has a lot riding on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Their use of what is a premium movie licence has not exactly produced stellar results. Whilst Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was a vast improvement on the first game, it still had its issues.

For Fallen Order, EA have conscripted Respawn Entertainment (Apex Legends/Titanfall) to produce a single-player focused Star Wars game. No strangers to narrative video-games, Respawn, being made up from veterans from the Call of Duty series, are an inspired choice to create this new chapter in the (canon) Star Wars mythos. The ship’s owners, Halcyon Holdings, covers the malfunction up and hides the ship and its occupants, still frozen in cryosleep. Thirty-five years later, the player is revived by a scientist and the adventure begins. Continue reading The Outer Worlds PC and Xbox One review

Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4/PC review

Since its inception, Activision’s Call of Duty franchise has barely put a foot wrong. It’s had its ups and downs, development dramas (they lost of most of the Infinity Ward team), and narrative challenges. Call of Duty has taken us from the Second World War, though to the modern age and beyond into outer space. As the writers upped the ante, the plots got all the more outlandish. Norton Lifelock Norton 360 review

For almost 30 years Norton software has been protecting PC users from viruses and other unwanted elements. Unfortunately, as the decades have rolled on, vulnerabilities across digital devices and the means to exploit them have become all the more sophisticated.

Building on their Norton Security software suite, Symantec’s consumer cyber safety brand, now known as Norton Lifelock, have released Norton 360 in Australia and New Zealand. I put the digital security software through its paces. Continue reading Norton Lifelock Norton 360 review
