I come from a generation of gamers that played rather a lot of platform games back in the day. Mainly because back in the day most games were platform games. That why, these days, I generally avoid them like the plague. There are, of course, exceptions.
Narrative adventure, Firewatch, joins the likes of Everyone’s Gone to the Rapture, Gone Home and Dear Ester in providing a relatively passive gaming experience with a profound story.

PC owners finally get to play what can only be described as the definitive version of Lara Croft’s latest adventure, Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Square Enix’s sequel to the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot was released late last year as a timed Xbox exclusive. It’s not too unfair to say that the Call of Duty franchise has now mutated so far from its initial premise, that, perhaps, the games should no longer be branded as such. The remastering trend continues with Quantic Dreams’ 2013 PlayStation 3 exclusive adventure game, Beyond: Two Souls, getting a new-gen makeover for the PlayStation 4.
David Cage’s supernatural follow-up to his 2010 PlayStation 3 game/interactive movie Heavy Rain really cemented my opinion of the French developer as being a frustrated film-maker.
