A few days away in central Australia meant that I missed the Sim City launch day excitement. As it turns out I missed very little and, at the same time, it was all waiting for me when I got back.
I haven’t done a PC review for a while, but having a newly reinvigorated gaming rig is changing all that; and what better way to start than to take a look at EA Games’ sci-fi horror splatter-fest, Dead Space 3. The following review should be up on Techday.com’s Games Console pages anytime soon, but it the meantime you can check out the all the gory details below.
Dead Space 3 continues the unfortunate adventures of Starship engineer Issac Clark, and his battle against creatures called the Neromorphs. Set in 25th Century, the Dead Space series is a third-person sci-fi horror game very much in the style of the Doom franchise, but borrowing from films like the Alien movies and John Carpenter’s The Thing. So I finally sorted out a tech issue that I’ve been living with for nearly seven years.
The UK launch of the Xbox 360 happened just before I moved to New Zealand. Buying a new console to drag half-way around the world was the last thing on my mind. So I waited for the ANZ Xbox 360 launch and picked one up at the midnight launch in Auckland. Continue reading Vic B’Stard’s week in review: Xbox Live and Windows 8→
Who doesn’t like the Metal Gear solid games? Their quirky, often incomprehensible plots coupled with sometimes strange Japanese-style gameplay places them a fair bit away from the mainstream. But despite being so different, it hasn’t stopped the Metal Gear franchise from being very successful on the west.
The recently released Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which I reviewed for Shane the Gamer, is probably the most westernised, and thus the most accessible game in the Metal Gear series to date. Revengeance is most definitely what you see is what you get. And, whilst this more action-leaning approach may upset long time fans of the series, Revengeance’s more mainstream gameplay makes for en excellent jumping in point for new player.
Holy shit, I’ve been biting my tongue all week. I got an email last week from Square Enix’s Australian reps telling me that I could pick up a copy of the new Tomb Raider game as long as I don’t speak a word about it to anyone until 26th February.
The last week has been a nightmare for me. As one of the first folks in Australasia to get my mitts on the new Tomb Raider game, I was sworn to silence until the embargo was lifted earlier this week. Imagine not being able to speak a word about a game that you have been wait the best part of a decade to play! With my gag finally removed here is my review of Lara Croft’s sparkly-new adventure. Enjoy.
I can’t believe that it has been seventeen years since Lara Croft first burst onto the scene and became an overnight pop-culture phenomenon. Back in the day I spent hours following Lara’s pixelated arse from tomb to tomb thinking that gaming couldn’t get better than this. Continue reading Tomb Raider: Xbox 360 Review→
The big PlayStation reveal is over and I’m not sure what to think.
Personally, I have very little faith in Sony as a company to deliver on their promises. They’ve lied to me in the past and have a recent history of being so out of touch with their customers that it hurts.
I was late to the original PlayStation party, my mind on other things at the time. It was Tomb Raider that sold me on the console and made be pick one up. That was the start of love affair with Sony’s game console. Continue reading PlayStation Meeting 2013 updated!→
Following my recent hands-on with the game, I’m following Bioshock Infinite rather closely.
The newly released “Lamb of Columbia” trailer offers a glimpse into the mystery surrounding the game’s leading lady, Elizabeth. The new video features scenes well in advance of the first four hours that I played, hinting at a dark secret in Elizabeth’s past. Check it out, below!
