Table Top Racing PS Vita review

One of my earliest memories is that of driving toy cars across my mother’s furniture in a perilous race to the death against my brother.

Playrise Digital’s Table Top Racing on the PS Vita sets out to recapture those innocent times when a kitchen table could very well be the domestic equivalent of the Indianapolis Speedway.

It’s an arcade racer with little cars racing along circuits similar to the makeshift tracks you probably made when you were a kid. The eight included circuits will have you hooning around power-tools on a garage bench top, across the barbeque and around the toy table. Continue reading Table Top Racing PS Vita review

Destiny PS4 Limited Edition unboxing

Unless you pre-ordered it about a decade ago, chances are you didn’t get to pick up a copy of the Destiny Ghost Edition last week.

Whilst I didn’t get a Ghost Edition, a cunning bit of ninja pre-ordering did mean that I got hold of a copy of the Destiny Limited Edition.

When developer, Bungie, announced that they were splitting up with Microsoft and leaving their much-loved Halo franchise behind everyone wondered what they would do next.

A surprise partnership with Activision paved the way for what is probably one of the most anticipated new game franchises in recent history.

Destiny. Continue reading Destiny PS4 Limited Edition unboxing

Metro Redux PlayStation 4 Review

Two of the most awesome, depressing post-apocalyptic survival horror games has been polished up and packaged together for the new-gen.

Metro Redux follows the lead of The Last of Us Remastered in offering up a classic last-gen experience polished up for the new-gen. This package goes one further than Naughty Dog’s PS4 exclusive by including two games: a remastered version of the four year old Metro 2033 and last year’s sequel Metro: Last Light. Metro Redux is also available on Xbox One and PC as well. Continue reading Metro Redux PlayStation 4 Review

The Sims 4 PC Review

How can I possibly offer readers a comprehensive review of a game that continuously surprises me, a game that can easily offer players a million different stories?

To be honest, I can’t.

Your experience with The Sims 4 will be very different to mine. Even if you play exactly the same characters, for exactly the same amount of time, something will be different. An inappropriate risqué joke could fall flat, causing an unrecoverable embarrassing situation, or that first kiss requested slightly too soon. Continue reading The Sims 4 PC Review

Madden NFL 15 PS4 review

Madden’s second outing on the new-gen consoles also marks the first of this year’s annual Ignite-powered EA Sports titles (excluding EA Sports UFC).

This’ll also be the second year that I’ve tackled EA’s digital version of American Football. For last year’s Madden I did my best to get the general gist of the ball-game Americans incorrectly refer to as football. I surprised myself in gaining an unexpected respect for a game that I’d previously thought of as rugby with shoulder pads and a silly hats. Continue reading Madden NFL 15 PS4 review

Time to face your Destiny

The wait is nearly over. Next week, on September 9th, Activision finally unleashes Bungie’s Destiny. All across Australia and New Zealand video game stores will be opening at midnight to allow fans to get into the game the moment it’s made available. They will be among the first Destiny players in the world.

It may be the most anticipated video game title in recent years but I’ll freely admit, apart from digesting the launch announcement, I’d not really been following the development of Destiny. After all, it was from the same guys that brought us Halo; so it was hardly likely to be rubbish. I thought I’d just wait and see. Continue reading Time to face your Destiny

Ultra Streetfighter IV PC review

Capcom’s Street Fighter series has been giving players calloused hands for almost three decades now. The latest game in the series, Ultra Street Fighter IV has now made the jump from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, which were released earlier in the year, to the PC.

Apart from the odd dabble over the years, the last time that I seriously played a Street Fighter game was SFII on the Commodore Amiga way back in the early 90s.

And the fighting game genre has come a long way since then. Continue reading Ultra Streetfighter IV PC review

Killzone Shadowfall goes co-op with Intercept DLC

I’ve always found the Killzone games good fun. If I’m honest, I’d even go as far as to say that I’d sooner play Killzone over Halo. And that goes for the multiplayer as well.

Even now, Killzone Shadow Fall is still the PlayStation 4 game that I use to highlight the capabilities of the new-gen consoles. The game has amazing lighting giving us possibly the closest thing so far to photo-real gameplay. Continue reading Killzone Shadowfall goes co-op with Intercept DLC
