Heavy metal action with Titanfall 2 – PS4/PC review

Don’t get me wrong, I like 2014’s Titanfall, the first game from Respawn- the development studio that arose from a spat between Infinity Ward and their masters at Activision. The choice, though, to release a game 100% dependent on competitive multiplayer play was not a good idea. Dress it up how you like, even with a narrative campaign linking the multiplayer bouts together, there was still no way to properly world-build this new IP. Hitman season one draws to a close

Hitman’s episodic first season draws to a close with the release of the Japan-set sixth episode, Situs Inversus.

Since March, players have been treated to a monthly instalment of Agent 47’s latest adventures. Shunning the usual distribution method, developers IO Interactive have split Hitman into a six episode season. The plot has taken the titular Hitman around the world, allowing us to visit exotic locations…and kill people. Continue reading Hitman season one draws to a close

Rise of the Tomb Raider 20th Anniversary Edition PS4 review

It would seem that I’ve spent the whole year playing Lara Croft’s latest outing, Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I first played the sequel to 2013’s rebooted Tomb Raider on Xbox One last year, Microsoft having an exclusive on the game. I then played Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC, first with DirectX 11, then DirectX 12 and finally with a multi-monitor set-up courtesy of NVidia Surround and one of their thumping-great GTX1080 cards.

WRC 6 PlayStation 4 review

Last year’s WRC 5 filled a gap in the market, giving us a much-needed new-gen rally game for new-gen consoles. But the game’s cross-generational development meant that French developers, Kylotonn, had to hold something back in order for it to run on PS3 and Xbox 360.
