Killzone Shadowfall goes co-op with Intercept DLC

I’ve always found the Killzone games good fun. If I’m honest, I’d even go as far as to say that I’d sooner play Killzone over Halo. And that goes for the multiplayer as well.

Even now, Killzone Shadow Fall is still the PlayStation 4 game that I use to highlight the capabilities of the new-gen consoles. The game has amazing lighting giving us possibly the closest thing so far to photo-real gameplay. Continue reading Killzone Shadowfall goes co-op with Intercept DLC

The Evil Within drafts Hollywood talent

It seems that scary games are the fashion of late. As well as the terrifying Alien: Isolation – which I’ve just previewed here, I also had a go on Bethesda Softworks’ The Evil Within at this year’s E3.

In pitch black demo booth I was confronted by grotesque creatures, hallucinations and lakes of blood. It was a wholly unnerving experience, with new-gen graphics adding a sense of realism that survival horror games have never been quite able to capture in the past. The Witcher 3 Xbox One Collector’s Edition gets extra

Xbox One fans picking up the Collector’s Edition of the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can expect a little extra in their version of the premium package.

A physical version of the interestingly entitled in-game card game, Gwent, will be included in the package- which also includes a huge polystone figurine of The Witcher, Geralt, battling a Griffin. Continue reading The Witcher 3 Xbox One Collector’s Edition gets extra

Alien: Isolation PC preview

I’ve been very concerned about Sega’s upcoming Alien: Isolation. VERY concerned. And I imagine that I’ve not been alone.

We’ve been burnt with games based on the Alien franchise before. Last year’s Aliens: Colonial Marines was not a good game. Both publisher Sega, and development studio Gearbox got a good slap from the gaming community for releasing a game that was not quite as advertised. Even Rebellion’s Aliens vs. Predator before it, back in 2010, was a bit of a mess.

It was a brave move for Sega to give the franchise another go so soon. But it was an even braver move for The Creative Assembly, step up to the plate. Famous for their superb historical Total War real-time strategy games, the Brit developer was not the first studio that came to mind when I thought of a developer likely to succeed in creating an Alien game. Week in review- never been a better time to be a gamer!

I’ve got to say, that I’m a little bit bothered.

You see, this is the video game low season. It’s a time when PR firms send out blurb hyping games that we won’t be seeing for a few months. It’s a quiet time where gaming websites grasp every piece of news firmly like it’s a lost scripture or something.

And yet here I am with twelve-plus articles to write. What’s the matter with me. Am I getting lazy? What the fuck’s going on? And more to the point what am I going to do when the real Christmas game avalanche arrives? Continue reading Week in review- never been a better time to be a gamer!
